Multi-Platinum Hitmaker’s Catalog Includes “Body Like a Back Road,” “Merry Go Round,” “Take Your Time”
NASHVILLE, Jan. 13, 2020 -- ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, the world leader in performing rights and advocacy for music creators, today announced that multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning songwriter Josh Osborne has renewed his membership agreement with ASCAP. ASCAP will license public performances of his extensive catalog, including the record-breaking, multi-platinum 2018 ASCAP Song of the Year, “Body Like a Back Road,” recorded by Sam Hunt.
“Josh is one of country music’s most talented and successful hitmakers, and he has earned a reputation as one of the most in-demand collaborators on Music Row,” said ASCAP Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Matthews. “He is truly a songwriter’s songwriter, and we are excited to be by his side as he continues to shape the genre with his insightful yet universal writing style.”
“I am so thankful for the success that I have had as an ASCAP writer and I am so excited to get to continue to be a part of the ASCAP family,” said Osborne.
Josh Osborne earned his first #1 song in 2012 with “Come Over,” recorded by Kenny Chesney, and since then has been nominated for numerous awards by the Academy of Country Music, Billboard Music Awards, Country Music Association, NARAS and more. In 2014, Kacey Musgraves' single “Merry Go Round,” co-written by Osborne, earned a Grammy for Best Country Song, and he was also honored by his home state of Kentucky, which added his name to the prestigious Country Music Highway that runs through the state near his hometown of Virgie. The RIAA certified double platinum #1 hit “Take Your Time,” recorded by Sam Hunt, earned Osborne a Song of the Year nomination at the 2015 CMA Awards, and that year he also won his first ASCAP Country Song of the Year Award for Sam Hunt’s “Leave The Night On.”
In 2017, Miranda Lambert’s “Vice,” co-written by Osborne, was nominated for Best Country Song at the Grammys and for Song of the Year at the ACM Awards. He has been nominated twice for Songwriter of the Year by the ACM and has received multiple CMA Triple Play Awards for having three #1 songs on the charts in a 12 month period. Osborne earned a 5x platinum, #1 smash hit with Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road,” which made history as the longest-reigning chart-topper on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart by a solo artist, spending 34 weeks at the top. He was named the 2019 NSAI Songwriter of the Year, and he recently earned his 19th #1 song with “One Man Band,” co-written with and recorded by Old Dominion.
