August 20, 2018

Showcases Held in Los Angeles, Atlanta and New York

August 20, 2018 –The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Rhythm & Soul membership team presented its annual “On the Come Up” Showcase Series in Los Angeles, Atlanta and New York this month. The showcases feature rising songwriter-artists from around the country and give in-the-know fans a chance to see their favorite new musicians live.

This year’s “On The Come Up” boasted lineups with a wide range of artists that varied in background, genre, and style. Audiences were treated to intimate performances and a chance to experience the personalities behind the music. Each installment was packed with excited fans that made for engaged crowds and memorable shows.  Featured performers included: Girls Make Beats, Villain Park, Cam & China, Brittany B, Felixx, KR, Deja Dalina, Talea, Shaun Rose, Rae, Omeretta the Great, Killumantii, Juani, Akinyemi, Gemaine, Bri Steves, the 070 Crew and DJs Skillz and Max October.

ASCAP “On the Come Up” is a showcase series that began as a newsletter chronicling ASCAP’s rising urban songwriters and producers. Over the past few years, “On the Come Up” has identified the industry’s next chart-topping leaders including Miguel, DeJ Loaf, Fetty Wap, Tasha Cobbs, Mike Will Made-It, Eric Bellinger and Jonathan McReynolds. ASCAP’s “On The Come Up” has since come to life as an ongoing series of showcases throughout the country, featuring exclusive performances with artists tapped to break next, and a focus on ASCAP members who are experiencing their first taste of chart success.

The showcases give rising stars a high profile opportunity to introduce their talents, and are the perfect chance for audiences to get to know these new faces and voices.

About ASCAP
The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) is a professional membership organization of songwriters, composers and music publishers of every kind of music. ASCAP's mission is to license and promote the music of its members and foreign affiliates, obtain fair compensation for the public performance of their works and to distribute the royalties that it collects based upon those performances. ASCAP members write the world's best-loved music and ASCAP has pioneered the efficient licensing of that music to hundreds of thousands of enterprises who use it to add value to their business - from bars, restaurants and retail, to radio, TV and cable, to Internet, mobile services and more. The ASCAP license offers an efficient solution for businesses to legally perform ASCAP music while respecting the right of songwriters and composers to be paid fairly. With more than 680,000 members representing more than 11.5 million copyrighted works, ASCAP is the worldwide leader in performance royalties, service and advocacy for songwriters and composers, and the only American performing rights organization (PRO) owned and governed by its writer and publisher members.
