ASCAP Names Tony Dunaif EVP and Head of International Affairs

NEW YORK, MAY 31, 2017 -- ASCAP, the American Society of Composer, Authors and Publishers, the world leader in public performing rights and advocacy for music creators, today announced the appointment of digital business strategist Tony Dunaif as Executive Vice President and head of International Affairs, reporting directly to ASCAP CEO Elizabeth Matthews. Dunaif will oversee ASCAP’s international business and society relations outside of the United States.
The appointment of Dunaif comes as part of ASCAP’s organizational transformation agenda to meet the future needs of its members. Dunaif will bring his expertise in global business development, licensing and strategy to develop international opportunities and partnerships that will ensure that ASCAP members collect greater value for performances of their music outside of the United States. Dunaif’s responsibilities include leading ASCAP’s international team as well as building relationships with performing rights societies around the world and with CISAC, the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers.

Dunaif’s appointment follows other recent executive announcements to the ASCAP international team. CML Consultancy, led by Miew Lan Chan, is engaged by ASCAP for the Asia-Pacific region and Elizabeth Rodda was recently promoted to Vice President of International Affairs. Both will report directly to Dunaif.
Prior to joining ASCAP, Dunaif was Senior Vice President, Digital Products, at iN Demand, a joint venture owned by Charter, Comcast, and Cox, which specializes in on-demand entertainment (movies, subscription sports packages, and Pay-Per-View events). Dunaif managed the company’s revenue-producing digital transactional content initiatives around multiplatform entertainment.
Previously, Dunaif worked at a number of digital startups. He was Senior Vice President, Syndication and Strategic Partnerships at HealthiNation, a venture-backed media company that produces and syndicates original, award-winning health and lifestyle, video. Before that, he served as the Chief Marketing Officer at Inform Technologies, which specialized in artificial intelligence. There he led the company’s sales and marketing, customer management, and public relations. He joined Inform from Internet Broadcasting, a provider of digital publishing solutions for media publishers and advertisers. As General Manager of their Media Network and Senior Vice President of Market Development, Tony was responsible for growing major external relationships.
Dunaif was also Vice President, Content Partnerships and International Development at Brightcove – a leading online video platform. In this capacity, he devised and implemented the business strategy for the company’s international expansion. He was also responsible for striking partnership agreements with a variety of international media companies. He began his media career at MTV Networks, where he held several senior posts throughout his 12-year tenure.
Dunaif earned a BA in English Literature from Union College and an MBA from IESE, the International Graduate School of Management, based in Barcelona, Spain. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two children.
