New York, NY, August 3, 2015: The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) premieres the first music video, “The World’s on Fire,” from ASCAP Songwriter Residency: Volume 7 today with Elmore Magazine. The song was co-written and performed by Felix McTeigue (who penned Florida Georgia Line’s current single, “Anything Goes,” a #19 hit and climbing on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart) together with songwriters Ellie Buckland, Isa Burke and 30 America SCORES students of Boston Teachers Union School. It was written over the course of two afternoons, and recorded on a third at Q Division Studios in Somerville, MA. Click here to watch the premiere on the Elmore Magazine website.

“The World’s on Fire” is one of seven tracks on ASCAP Songwriter Residency: Volume 7, which will be available to stream and as a free download on Friday, September 25th at

McTeigue was enthusiastic about the program. “This was such a meaningful experience for all of us,” he said. “We had no idea what to expect when the workshop started, but we were blown away - not only by the kids' talent, creativity and hard work - but also by how real, relevant and heartfelt a subject matter they chose to write about. Watching the kids come out of their shells and become more confident with their ideas was very powerful. What a truly profound experience. We are incredibly grateful.”

The ASCAP Songwriter Residency has partnered with America SCORES Boston on four prior occasions. Dwayne Simmons, Program Director of America SCORES Boston, spoke of the value of the program: “The Residency exposes Boston public school youth to various genres of music while providing hands-on instruction. Having an ASCAP artist lead the sessions provides a level of legitimacy and excitement that a music teacher just cannot offer. The kids light up when they're in the studio. You can see the accomplishment on their faces when they hear the final mix. They leave the Residency with a deeper appreciation of music and a sense of ownership and pride in the final product. The recording process creates a lifelong memory that keeps the kids wanting to do it again and again like the professionals.”

The ASCAP Songwriter Residency, a partnership with acclaimed after-school program America SCORES, is an annual mentorship program that enables songwriters to engage and inspire elementary and middle school students in under-resourced neighborhoods around the country.
