Composer Alex Shapiro Elected to ASCAP Board

New York, NY, March 5, 2014: ASCAP's Board of Directors has elected composer Alex Shapiro as a director, it was announced today by ASCAP President and Chairman Paul Williams. Shapiro was elected to fill the Symphonic & Concert seat held by Stephen Paulus, who is unable to serve the remainder of his term for health reasons.

Williams commented: "Alex has been a strong advocate for composers and all members of the creative community through work on ASCAP’s Symphonic & Concert Committee as well as many other organizations, where her deep knowledge of the contemporary music business informs her forward-thinking contributions. We are very grateful that she is able to serve as a member of the ASCAP Board, where she will continue the work of Stephen Paulus, who has been an outstanding Board member and voice for creators.”
