Chief Information Officer Mark Katz

New York, NY, August 13, 2012: The American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) announced today the appointment of Mark Katz as the organization's new Chief Information Officer. Katz, who was previously Vice President of Application Development and Infrastructure at Connolly Inc., will report to ASCAP EVP & Chief Operating Officer Al Wallace.

"Mark is an extremely well-rounded business information officer with good technical credentials to balance his commercial acumen, and it is with great excitement that we welcome him to ASCAP," said Wallace. "As an experienced CIO, Mark has a proven track record of leading successful, skilled operations teams. His deep knowledge of IT strategies within the financial services industries will be an enormous asset to ASCAP as we innovate to provide our members with the best payments and our licensees with superior business services."

Katz's lengthy career in IT and operations began in 1988, when he started as a Project Manager in Operations and Automation Planning at Chemical Bank in the Consumer Banking group. Since then, Katz has worked broadly across different areas within Financial Services at companies like ING Barings, UBS and XL Capital, among others. In recent years, Katz served as CIO for start-up specialty insurance business Syncora, building and developing a team and working directly with the CFO and President of the company to establish operations. In early 2011, Katz joined Connolly Inc., a $200 million recovery audit firm, where he ran a team of IT professionals across infrastructure and application development.

"ASCAP has led the development of the world's most sophisticated tracking and royalty systems for processing billions of performances and ensuring accurate payment to its members." said Katz. "I look forward to the opportunity to lead further innovation and to harness ASCAP's superior Information Technology to enhance ASCAP's business services to members and licensees. It is with great pleasure and excitement that I take on the role of Chief Information Officer at ASCAP, especially because it allows me to reconnect with my passion for music."
