New York, NY, October 21, 2011: ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) celebrated "Women Without Borders," its first all-female Song Camp in Malibu, CA. Hosted by ASCAP and Latin Grammy Award-winning songwriter Claudia Brant, the event brought together nine hit songwriters from the worlds of Latin, Pop, Urban and Country music for five days of writing and recording. The Song Camp took place October 17-21 at the magnificent Woodshed Recording Studios, and is sponsored by Sony/ATV Music Publishing, Gibson, Casio and D'Anbino Vineyards & Cellars.

The participating songwriters are Claudia Brant, Jonatha Brooke, Deana Carter, Crystal Nicole, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Lena, Natalia Lafourcade, Debi Nova and Erika Nuri. In addition to successful solo careers, this talented group of women has had cuts by artists such as Alejandro Sanz, Carlos Santana, Ricky Martin, Luis Fonsi, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Fantasia, Chris Brown, Black Eyed Peas, Sean Paul and others.

Song Camp was established in 2008 by ASCAP's Latin Department to provide an opportunity for songwriters to connect and collaborate in a relaxed and friendly setting with the goal of creating great songs and getting cuts. Previous Song Camps have taken place in Miami, Monterrey, Mexico City, Nashville, Los Angeles and The Dominican Republic.
