ASCAP Independent Publishers Memory Lane and September Music/Galahad Music Merge

Two long-established independent ASCAP music publishers with deep catalogues and deep family roots in the industry recently came together in a merger. The companies, Memory Lane and September Music/Galahad Music, are led respectively, by Mark Spier and Stanley Mills. Spier is the grandson of Larry Spier, Sr., who founded what became Memory Lane in 1923, and son of Larry, Jr., who began working at Memory Lane in 1950. Stanley Mills grew up in music publishing as the son of industry pioneer Jack Mills. Stanley’s career began at Mills Music and, after the company was sold, he established September Music in 1968. Both firms boast important standards. Memory Lane’s repertoire includes “Me and My Shadow,” “Moments to Remember,” “That Lucky Old Sun,” “You’re Nobody ‘til Somebody Loves You” and “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town.” September proudly represents “Cara Mia,” ”Happiness Is,” “Goodbye Cruel World,” “My Melody Of Love,” “Hands Up” and the party favorite, “The Chicken Dance.”
