Marketing Your Music

“Prediction 1: Content Will Be More Important Than Ever.”

Forbes.com on the 6 Predictions About the State of Digital Marketing In 2015

I have read dozens of articles from all of the top thinkers in the digital marketing space and the value of creating killer, owned content is in every single one.

Customers Trust Companies Who Provide Valuable Content

Another thing to keep at the forefront of your mind is: survey after survey shows that customers like and trust companies who provide valuable and relevant information (content) and it deeply influences purchasing choices.

There’s all the evidence you need. It’s time to go out and create content! Right? I know it’s not that simple. I speak to hundreds of creative entrepreneurs each year around the globe. A vast majority of you complain that, as overwhelmed entrepreneurs, you don’t have time to get your work done much less devote extra hours each week to creating content. And, before you know it, you are months behind on your most recent blog post. How many blogs have you read that start with, “It’s been awhile since I have last posted…”?

But when I delve a little deeper I find something else. It turns out time is not the biggest issue. The #1 concern is actually: “I don’t know what to say.” For that I am here to help.

A Comprehensive Content Marketing Calendar – For you, I’ve created a 12-month content calendar, broken down by days and months, to help you envision and schedule relevant content that wows your audience and gives your content some context. It includes hundreds of great idea starters. All you have to do is use it as a guide to map out your content plan and move forward with fierce velocity!

Here are nine steps to help you create consistent content to market your music in 2015:

Step 1 - Get out your calendar (or check out my CyberPR content calendar) and map out content items for the upcoming year. Think of topics geared toward specific days, events and months.

Step 2 - Browse your calendar for days & themes that align with your business and or mission.

Step 3 - Choose one to three topics a month.

Step 4 - Create a 500 – 800 word post per topic or ask someone in your community to create a guest post for you.

Step 5 - If you choose to secure guest posts, target favorite influencers in your community and ask them to share their expertise on the topic you chose.

Step 6 - Re-frame your content and add it to your other social channels.

Step 7 - Shine your light on others! Thank your content providers publicly on all your socials including their Twitter handles, Facebook pages, etc…

Step 8 - Make sure you have “share” buttons on your own content. This includes LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Tumblr, so people can easily share your fabulous content with their own audiences.

Step 9 - Have fun! Putting together a content calendar allows you to be creative when planning or developing an informative series to educate your potential clients and current audience.
