ASCAP Writers Take 80% of Daytime Emmys

ASCAP composers and songwriters kept up their daytime dominance at the 2013 Daytime Emmys, earning awards in 80% of the music categories. At a ceremony held on June 14th, 2013 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, six ASCAP members took home a total of eight awards.

Taking home two Emmys each were Jack Allocco and David Kurtz, the longtime composers behind soap staples The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless. Their victory brought Allocco and Kurtz’s career Emmy total to nine. They will both be honored at the 2013 ASCAP Film & Television Awards for their themes and underscore, as well.

This news is all part of a year of incredible achievement for ASCAP’s TV music community. In 2012, ASCAP was the preeminent PRO in television, with more themes and underscore composed by ASCAP composers than any other PRO, including 70% of all music on the Fox Network alone.

Congrats to all of our winners!
