El Premio ASCAP 2021
March 23, 2021
ASCAP's global family of Spanish-language music stars got a much-deserved spotlight March 22-25, during our virtual El Premio ASCAP 2021 – honoring the songwriters and publishers of the biggest ASCAP music en español of 2020.
Reggaeton pioneer Daddy Yankee continued his unstoppable winning streak, earning his third ASCAP Songwriter of the Year honor (he was also named Songwriter-Artist of the Year in 2019 and 2017) and adding to his record-setting collection of 42 El Premio ASCAP awards. Song of the Year went to "Tusa," the first song by two female artists to debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart. And Sony Discos Music Publishing took home the Publisher of the Year prize for their bevy of Latin hits from 2020.
Hosted by Colombian singer, rapper and songwriter Farina, El Premio ASCAP welcomed fans to our @ASCAPLatino and @ASCAP social feeds to join in the celebration. Our winners brought us into their homes and studios for intimate performances, heartfelt acceptance speeches, unboxing videos, studio tours and photos. Throughout the awards, we shared exclusive content from superstars like Marc Anthony, Jhay Cortez, Farruko, Joss Favela, Nio Garcia, Génesis 'Nesi' Rios, Sebastián Yatra and more.
