2017 ASCAP London Music Awards
On October 16, creatives and industry folk alike flocked to One Marylebone to toast the creme de la creme of the UK ASCAP family at the ASCAP London Music Awards. We honored powerhouse hitmaker Steve Mac with the prestigious ASCAP Founders Award for his tremendous work as one of the architects of modern pop music. Singer-songwriter Anne-Marie dropped in to sing the undeniable “Rockabye,” a recent UK #1 for Clean Bandit, co-written and produced by Steve.
We awarded the coveted ASCAP Vanguard Award to two incredible artists who are shaping the future of music: up-and-coming pop princess Dua Lipa, and UK rockers The Amazons. Speaking of Vanguard Award winners, 2016 Vanguard winner MNEK had another banner year, winning Top EDM Song for “Never Forget You,” recorded with Zara Larsson. Writer Richie Stephens was a winner two times over, snagging Song of the Year and Top Digital Song for Rihanna and Drake’s blockbuster single “Work.” Joby Talbot is surely singing a happy tune after being awarded Top Film Score of the Year for Sing. The ASCAP London Music Awards was an evening of music and magic, honoring our friends across the pond.
