ASCAP Composers Win Big at 2nd Annual SCL Awards
March 9, 2021
The 2nd Annual SCL Awards were hosted virtually by ASCAP master composer and sparkling personality Michael Giacchino on March 2, and ASCAP members won several high honors!
Jon Batiste and Trent Reznor continued their current run of wins for the moving and masterful Soul. Songwriters Savan Kotecha, Fat Max Gsus and Rickard Göransson won for the lighthearted and surprisingly tender “Husavik – My Hometown” from Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. Video game music greats Garry Schyman and Mikolai Stroinski won for their 12-tone mastery on the Kafkaesque adventure game Metamorphosis. And the great cultural icon, film auteur and ASCAP member Spike Lee received the Spirit of Collaboration Award, honoring his enduring and distinguished creative partnership with composer Terence Blanchard. It was a great, virtual night full of fantastic music. Congratulations to our winners - and listen to their winning music in the playlist below.
