ASCAP Congratulates Our 2019 Grammy Nominees

December 7, 2018

The results are in! The 61st annual Grammy nominations were announced the morning of December 7, and The Recording Academy has shortlisted 214 members of the global ASCAP family for nearly 300 songs, compositions, performances, recordings, albums and more, across 75 categories.

Hip-hop game changer Kendrick Lamar leads the entire field with eight nominations. Brandi Carlile and super-producer Boi-1da both earned six, giving Carlile the distinction of the most-nominated woman this year. Cardi B, H.E.R. and Sounwave picked up five apiece. Producer Noah "40" Shebib earned four nominations, and Beck, The Carters (Beyoncé and Jay-Z), John Daversa, Tim & Phil Hanseroth, Ron LaTour, Al Shux, Chris Stapleton and Zedd each got three.

Special shoutout to ASCAP Board member Marcus Miller, who earned his sixteenth (!!!) Grammy nomination, for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album (Laid Black).

An additional tip of the hat to our members who will receive Special Merit Awards this year: Lifetime Achievement Award honorees Black Sabbath, Donny Hathaway and Julio Iglesias (SGAE), and Trustees Award honorees Ashford & Simpson and Johnny Mandel.

Congratulations to all of our Grammy nominees this year. We'll be rooting for you on February 10!
