Break Bread Brings Together Promising ASCAP Talent with Industry Experts

December 17, 2018

In 2018, ASCAP's Los Angeles office hosted another successful year of its cross-genre Break Bread series. The events are aimed at fostering face-to-face connections between ASCAP's members, and providing a direct link between our members and the music industry.

ASCAP partnered with Warner Bros. Records, Def Jam Records and the Capitol Music Group for the 2018 Break Bread series. On Feb. 22, Eesean Bolden, Brooke Story and Kate Craig from Warner Bros. offered feedback to attendees’ music. On May 4, Tuo Clark, SVP of A&R for Def Jam Records (and one half of Da Internz production duo), came by to provide insight and feedback; on December 10, Serge Durand (VP of A&R at the Capitol Music Group) offered his sage advice to the budding writers, producers and artists in the room.

This was the second year of ASCAP’s Break Bread. In its inaugural year in 2017, ASCAP partnered with music publishers. The music community was so impressed by the event that record labels reached out to ASCAP wanting to participate.

Each Break Bread hosted around 60 attendees. The series was sponsored by Fender and Transparence Entertainment Group.
