Curtains Up! ASCAP Musicals Nab 12 Tony Nods
May 2, 2018
The 2018 Tony Award nominations have finally arrived, and our ASCAP writers have dazzled once again, clinching 12 nominations across five categories.
Mean Girls proved just as fetch onstage as onscreen, earning 12 nominations, including Best Musical, Best Original Score and Best Book. You go Glen Coco!
SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical had the best day ever, garnering 12 noms thanks in part to its all-star crop of ASCAP songwriters from every genre, from Aerosmith to Sara Bareilles, Lady Antebellum to T.I. Holy Krabby Patties, that’s a whole lotta talent in one show!
Finally, ASCAP musicals swept the Best Musical Revival category, with nominations for the still-gorgeous Carousel, the classic My Fair Lady and the modern classic Once on This Island.
The 72nd Annual Tony Awards will be held on June 10 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, and will be broadcast live by CBS at 8:00 pm EST. Make sure you tune in to watch our very own Broadway goddess Sara Bareilles (creator of Waitress!) host the show alongside Josh Groban. Break a leg, everyone!
