ASCAP Film Composers Win Big at the 2017 IFMCA Awards
On February 22, the International Film Music Critics Association (IFMCA) announced the winners of its annual awards, honoring music in film and TV from 2017. ASCAP members and international affiliates took 79% of the composition categories, including Score of the Year for Jonny Greenwood's work on Phantom Thread and Film Music Composition of the Year for Michael Giacchino's powerful end credits from War for the Planet of the Apes.
Both Greenwood and Giacchino cinched two awards each, as did Benjamin Wallfisch for his work on A Cure for Wellness and Mully.
Congrats to all of our wonderful composers on these wins – another demonstration of the truly global appeal of ASCAP film music!
