2018 is shaping up to be sweet year for the nine ASCAP members and affiliates nominated for music Oscars.

In the Best Original Score category, Hans Zimmer continued his awards season streak with the Grammy and Golden Globe-nominated Dunkirk score, while Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood (Phantom Thread) and composing powerhouse Carter Burwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) also followed up their Golden Globe noms with Oscar nods.

On the Best Original Song front, musical theatre sweethearts Pasek and Paul are flying high with yet another nomination for “This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman, which won the Golden Globe earlier this month. Mary J. Blige makes history as the first person nominated for Acting and Best Original Song, both for her work on Mudbound - she co-wrote the film’s powerful ballad “Mighty River” with the inimitable Raphael Saadiq. Indie darling Sufjan Stevens earned his first Oscar nomination for the beguiling “Mystery of Love” from Call Me By Your Name, and ASCAP Founders Award Winner Diane Warren added a ninth Oscar nomination, for “Stand Up for Something” from Marshall, to her long list of accolades.

Congratulations to all of our nominees! The Academy Awards will air live on ABC on March 4. Tune in to cheer them on!
