ASCAP Members Rule the 2018 Grammy Nominations
November 29, 2017
Nominations for the 60th annual Grammy Awards were announced on November 28th, and ASCAP-licensed songwriters, composers and bands received 263 nominations from The Recording Academy for their outstanding contributions to music over the past year.
Leading our nominees are ASCAP rap titans JAY-Z with eight nods, Kendrick Lamar with seven and super-producer No I.D. with five. Writer-producer Christopher Brody Brown earned four nominations for his work with Bruno Mars. “Despacito” collaborators Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber, powerhouse R&B vocalist Ledisi, hard rock band Nothing More, country star Chris Stapleton, big band jazz composer-arranger Chuck Owen, writer-producer James Fauntleroy and Jeremy Reeves & Ray Charles McCullough II of production crew The Stereotypes earned three apiece.
ASCAP members from all points of the genre spectrum got two nominations each, including Coldplay, Foo Fighters and Gorillaz; film music legend Hans Zimmer; hip-hop firebrands Cardi B, Lil Uzi Vert, Migos and Rapsody; country hitmakers Sam Hunt, Lady Antebellum, Midland and Josh Osborne; musical theater/film stars Lin-Manuel Miranda and Pasek & Paul; electronic acts LCD Soundsystem and Odesza; indie-folk singer-songwriter Father John Misty; jazz favorites John Beasley, Anat Cohen, Vince Mendoza, Chris Potter and Nate Smith; writer-producers Mike Will Made It, JT Daly and Greg Kurstin; Andrew Taggart of The Chainsmokers; gospel songwriter Warryn Campbell; R&B singer-songwriter Daniel Caesar and South African choral legends Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
We’re especially thrilled to represent all five songs nominated in the Song of the Year and Best Rap Song categories.
The Grammy Awards will air live on CBS from Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sunday, Jan. 28.
Congratulations to all of our nominees!
