Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award Winner Joshua Green Celebrates Album Release with National Sawdust Debut
February 22, 2017
Composer Joshua Green, whom The ASCAP Foundation honored last year with the Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award, will be directing his Cyborg Orchestra in their live debut at National Sawdust on Thursday, March 2.
The Cyborg Orchestra, a 16-piece big band, will play compositions of Green's that they have recently recorded on his debut album Telepathy & Bop, available February 24th. Green offers a sneak peak of the music here.
The Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Awards program (originally launched in 2002 as The ASCAP Foundation Young Jazz Composer Awards) is firmly committed in its mission to encourage talented young jazz composers, up to the age of 30. Thanks to generous support from The Herb Alpert Foundation and The ASCAP Foundation Bart Howard Fund, recipients are selected through a juried national competition and receive cash awards.
