Musician / Composer / Music Producer
Vichaya Vatanasapt started his career in the music industry in 1994, when he was an architecture student. In 1999, he launched the experimental electronic band, The Photo Sticker Machine, which he has adopted into a music lab ever since. Shortly after, he took over the music label, Hualampong Riddim, and transformed its ethos with the belief that music could take part in various entertainment and creative areas. Since then, Hualampong Riddim has produced for many independent musical artists, adding to the creative diversity of the music industry in Thailand.
In 2003, Hualampong Riddim debuted its first ever film score on the critically-acclaimed independent film by Pen-ek Ratanaruang, Last Life in the Universe (2003). The label followed its success with scores for Invisible Waves (2006), Ploy (2007) and Headshot (2011). Hualampong Riddim has since worked on over 60 films – box office hits, independent films and international films, including a collaboration with the film score team on The Grandmaster (2013) by Wong Kar Wai.
Hualampong Riddim has produced film scores for leading production companies in Thailand, including 21 films for GTH and nine films for GDH. The label also produced the score on the first film by Baz Poonpiriya, Count Down (2012), and his worldwide hit, Bad Genius (2017). Their next collaboration is the Sundance selection, One for the Road (2021).
