Sundance 2021 Composer Spotlight: Manuel Crosby, Kevin Kentera & Noah Lowdermilk
Film: First Date
The band heard on First Date's score consists of three guys all currently based out of the Reno-Tahoe area. The film's writer and director – Manuel Crosby – mostly considers himself a hobbyist musician but pulled out all stops to lead the group with a creative vision of nostalgic soundscapes. Kevin Kentera – a guitarist, composer and eclectic enthusiast – introduced Manuel to Noah Lowdermilk, who added a rhythmic foundation on drumset, brought some good vibes via Rhodes and engineered most of the recordings in his home. Once assembled the three had a natural chemistry that guided them through the writing process.
