Film: The Fire Next Time

Marisa Cornford is a British composer and pianist. Marisa trained at Chetham’s School of Music, Edinburgh University, Mannes College of Music NYC and the National Film and TV School, UK. She has composed for theatre, including works performed at The Globe Theatre, London, and she also plays live to picture with her husband, the violist, Dan Cornford. Marisa is a professor of piano at the Royal Academy of Music, London.


Marisa received a nomination for a composing award for Lao Wai in the Underwire Film Festival, London in 2018. She is a BAFTA film crew member and the documentary, RAVENS, which she scored, won a Grierson award in 2019.


In December 2020, Marisa was selected to be part of the Diversity and Inclusion Team at the Abbey School in Reading, UK. Celebrating work made by and about people of color is something that is close to her heart.
