2019 ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop: Mike MacLennan
Mike is an English composer, conductor and arranger. Having originally started out as a pianist and drummer, he then focused on composition and studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance.
He has since gone on to compose soundtracks for TV & film, working from his studio in Oxfordshire. For television, he has written music for all three seasons of the hit Amazon Prime series The Grand Tour (starring Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May) with Rage Music. Other TV work includes the BAFTA Scotland nominated BBC series Planet Oil. He has also scored a number of short films, including Grasslands, Man of the Land, La Boulangerie and the animated short Mr. Plastimime, directed by Oscar-winning director Daniel Greaves.
Mike spent the last few months of 2018 composing the score for The Hunger Games – Mockingjay Flight: Rebel Escape, coming soon to the forthcoming Lionsgate Entertainment World theme park in Hengqin, China.
As well as composing, Mike also works as an arranger, most recently on the Netflix feature film Outlaw King (directed by David Mackenzie and starring Chris Pine).
