2019 ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop: Joep Sporck


Joep (Joseph) Sporck is a Dutch composer based in Los Angeles. In 2016 he was awarded the Young Talent Award at the Film Music Festival Krakow, Poland. The award was presented by one of the jury members, Harry Gregson-Williams: “In recognition of his extraordinary musical cue that captures the overall dramatic arch of the animated sequence while also elegantly complimenting its many shifts of perspective and emotion.”

He studied Composition & Sound Design at the Utrecht School of the Arts and Music Education at the Maastricht Academy of Music.

Since 2010 Joep has been a member of the ProjectSAM team. This company produces Orchestral Sample Libraries for film, TV and game composers. Some of the libraries he worked on are Symphobia 2, Symphobia 3 Lumina, Orchestral Essentials 1&2 and Swing! His work at ProjectSAM consists of composing demos & tutorials, arranging, orchestrating, editing and programming.

Joep composed music for multiple features and documentaries in The Netherlands. At the moment he is assisting composer Tim Williams with the Jurassic World Live Tour soundtrack. Besides composing film music, Joep also writes custom trailer music which can be heard in: Incredibles 2 (Disney-Pixar), The Nutcracker and the 4 Realms (Disney), Dumbo (Disney) and How to Train your Dragon (DreamWorks).
