Hailing from Massapequa, NY, Chris Ryan is a Los Angeles-based composer whose credits span film, television, video games and theatre.

Most recently, he had the pleasure of working as Benjamin Wallfisch’s MIDI orchestrator on DC Films’ #1 box office hit Shazam!, helping bring to life the film’s rousing original score. As a performer and arranger, Chris’s collaboration with Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino, LOST: Music from the Island for Solo Piano, reached #5 in its category on the Billboard charts. As a composer, his work has been featured at New York's Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Steinway Hall, The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, and in film festivals internationally.

Previously, Chris served as assistant to orchestrator David Krystal, with whom he worked on projects for composers Harry Gregson-Williams, Tom Howe, Nick Urata and Evan Goldman, among others. He has worked on the music teams of multiple critically acclaimed television series, including Netflix’s Tales of the City, and has written original music for clients including Mastercard, Warner Media, Vox, and off-Broadway’s Pipeline Theatre Company.

A storyteller at heart, Chris received his degree in film production from the University of Miami in 2012, and is an alumnus of the NYU/ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop. He lives in Los Feliz, CA where he is currently developing an animated musical with his husband, Larson Grant award-winning writer Andrew Farmer.
