Mikolaj Trzaska – born in Gdansk (Poland), acknowledged jazz musician, saxophonist, bass clarinetist and award-winning film and documentary music composer, member of European Film Academy. A favorite composer of Poland’s most acclaimed director Wojciech Smarzowski; the scores to his Dark House, Rose, The Mighty Angel and Volhynia has received many significant awards and nominations. His recent feature works include: Ar Putam uz Lupam by Janis Nords and Pitty by Babis Makridis. Trzaska is a co-owner of an independent record label Kilogram Records publishing international projects of improvised music. The leader of international trio VOLUME and IRCHA CLARINET QUARTET, he plays radical contemporary free jazz and travels around the globe cooperating with the biggest personalities of the world of improvisation, including: Peter Brötzmann, Joe McPhee, Ken Vandermak, Evan Parker, Peter Friis Nielsen, Peter Ole Jorgensen, Michael Zerang, Jay Rosen, Dominik Duval or Mark Sanders. He has recorded over 50 albums.
