The 2018 ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop with Richard Bellis
Celebrating our 30th anniversary of nurturing tomorrow's screen music professionals
For three decades, ASCAP has offered a one-of-a-kind experience for aspiring composers of film, TV and other visual media. During this month-long, immersive program, 12 participants learn about the business of film music from "A list" Hollywood studio executives, agents, attorneys and music supervisors. It culminates when each aspiring composer gets to record an original cue for a scene from a major motion picture, using the same tools as today's top composers: a 64-piece orchestra at the historic Newman Scoring Stage at FOX Studios, along with a legendary scoring mixer, music editors, copyists and professional composers acting as mentors.
The Workshop is led by Emmy Award-winning composer and ASCAP Board member Richard Bellis, and produced by ASCAP Film/TV membership executives Michael Todd and Jennifer Harmon. Participants are chosen from more than 300 applicants by a team of 20 professional composers. The Workshop is generously supported by The ASCAP Foundation Irving Caesar Fund.
