Parenting Your Song Babies [sponsored by Fox Rothschild]

Much like the individuals who make up communities and societies, songs are borne of diverse backgrounds and genres and often end up living together or next to each other on radio, charts, soundtracks, etc. A successful song may be covered over and over, lending even more diversity by introducing songs to other communities. Songs can migrate to other countries to become adopted in different languages, and all are born with legal rights. The panelists in this session will offer a rights primer and discuss the basis for copyright in the US Constitution. They will also answer questions on a variety of legal matters pertaining to the current state of copyright law in America and around the world.

St. Vincent in Conversation with King Princess

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Annie Clark, aka St. Vincent, has been dazzling the music world since 2007, when she released her acclaimed debut Marry Me. Her newest album Masseduction earned her highest-ever debut on the Billboard 200 and was named the #1 record of 2017 by Jon Pareles of The New York Times. This multi-talented artist won her first Grammy in 2015, as well as ASCAP's Vanguard Award the same year. Innovative and fearless, she relentlessly transcends pop music parameters. Clark will be joined in conversation with rising artist King Princess, the first act to be signed to Mark Ronson’s label Zelig. Born and raised in Brooklyn, King Princess grew up tinkering with the Neve board in her father’s studio, Mission Sound. Her breakout single, “1950,” has gained more than 30 million streams to date and she recently released a new song, “Talia.” Gain insight and inspiration from kindred spirits and two of the most unique and exciting artists in music today.
