Nakhane Touré is a Johannesburg-based multimedia artist. His award-winning debut album, Brave Confusion, owes as much to traditional South African music as it does to recent alternative music and ‘60s soul. He took the name Touré in homage to his idol Ali Farka Touré, but he is as likely to cite Morrissey, Nina Simone, Sonic Youth or Brenda Fassie as influences. In 2015 he published his debut novel, Piggy Boy’s Blues, which has been long listed for two prestigious awards. The Wound, his debut as a lead actor on a feature, is competing in the Sundance World Cinema section.
