There are millions of songwriters, composers and publishers out there. Some of them even have the same name (just imagine how many songwriters named John Smith there are)! The only way to be sure you're including the right one when you register your music is by using the right Interested Party Information (IPI) - a unique number assigned to every music creator or publisher in the world. The ASCAP Mobile Pass makes it easy.
The first thing to do is download your ASCAP Mobile Pass, which includes your IPI - and keep it on your phone. If you have stage names or pseudonyms, you'll have a different number for each. Don't worry! We've made it super easy to keep track of them.
This step is what makes it so useful. Be sure to pass the pass to your co-writers and publishers. Get theirs, too!
When it's time to register your new music, open up your Mobile Pass to get your IPI, and use the IPIs you got from your co-writers and publishers, too. No more confusing your John Smith with someone else!
