In 1919, ASCAP signed our first agreement with a foreign performing rights organization (PRO). Today we have reciprocal agreements with more than 100 PROs around the world. We are proud to work closely with our global partners to ensure that music creators and publishers get paid, wherever their music is heard.
When ASCAP music gets played overseas, our international sister societies monitor the performances and send the royalties to ASCAP. Then we distribute them to our members in our quarterly international distributions.
ASCAP's commitment to the next generation of songwriters and composers deeply impressed me and was a major factor in bringing them on board with my team. We have such a responsibility to nurture young musicians and I am committed to this challenge in every aspect of my engagement with the art form.
