Nicholas Buc is a highly experienced composer, conductor and arranger. As a recipient of the Brian May Scholarship for Australian film composers, he is currently completing a Master’s degree in Scoring for Film and Multimedia at New York University. Straddling the worlds of film, television, the concert hall and the classroom, his music has been performed by a diverse range of ensembles, from professional orchestras to children’s choirs. He has written music for ballet, theatre and television, whilst his film work has been screened at festivals and theatres around Australia, Asia and the US. In 2007 he was nominated for "Best Original Song Composed for the Screen" in the APRA-AGSC Screen Music Awards, and in 2015 was a winning finalist of the NYU Film Scoring Competition. Nicholas is also a highly sought after arranger, penning charts for such artists as Tina Arena, The Whitlams, Passenger and contributing arrangements for the hit television show The Voice Australia. Continuing his passion for music and film, he has enjoyed great success conducting Disney’s Pixar In Concert, Michael Giacchino’s Star Trek Live in Concert and Bernard Herrmann’s Psycho with Orchestra. Later in 2015 he will conduct the Australian and Japanese premieres of Alan Silvestri’s Back To The Future Live in Concert.
