BIO:

This past year has been one of many changes and interesting projects. Jay wrote, directed, and scored his own abstract short film, called TEST which has been screening at festivals domestically and internationally, and won Best Super Short at the 2015 Art of Brooklyn Film Festival. This summer, he was commissioned to compose a score/sound design piece called Representational Genera, an art installation at Equitable Vitrines in Los Angeles. His last feature score, HOW HE FELL IN LOVE, starring Matt McGorry and Amy Hargreaves, will premiere this June at the Los Angeles Film Festival. Currently he is scoring an independent feature shot in Greece called NIA ON VACATION, and creating a soundscape for IFP Director Mark Harris’ upcoming transmedia exhibit. 2014 was also a year of many engaging projects including the film 5 TO 7, starring Anton Yelchin and Olivia Thirlby, and WE CAUSE SCENES, a documentary about NY-based performance arts group Improv Everywhere. You can also hear his music on a daily basis in spots for IBM, Cadillac, and Samsung. He is also an occasional contributor for Tape Op Magazine.

Jay holds a B.A. in music from Tufts University, Medford MA, and an M.M. in Jazz Studies from The New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, MA. He lives in the not cool part of Brooklyn with his wife and two sons.
