Bruno Mars & Philip Lawrence Improvise "One Day (Rolex)" at the 2012 ASCAP "I Create Music" EXPO

If you’ve listened to the radio in the last three years, you’re already well-acquainted with the music of songwriting/production team The Smeezingtons. The trio of Philip Lawrence, Ari Levine and Bruno Mars have written and/or produced an unrelenting stream of gigantic songs, include three Top 10 singles from Mars's debut album - one of which, the #1 hit “Just the Way You Are," won Mars a Grammy and was named the 2012 ASCAP Pop Song of the Year.

In their keynote panel at the 2012 ASCAP "I Create Music" EXPO, The Smeezingtons opened up to moderator Randy Grimmett from ASCAP with insights into their unique creative process. They also treated the audience to a completely off-the-cuff musical theater-style song, later dubbed "One Day (Rolex)," with Lawrence on vocals and Mars at the piano. Check it out:

After the panel, Philip Lawrence took to Twitter to express his appreciation: "@ASCAP Thnk u 4 giving me a mic, a stage and a platform 2 show off my awesome musical theater freestyle skills!!" The pleasure's all ours, Mr. Lawrence. Thanks for giving us one of our very favorite "only at the ASCAP EXPO" moments!
