 Carianne Marshall

Carianne Marshall is COO for Warner/Chappell Music, the global music publishing arm of Warner Music Group. She joined Warner/Chappell in 2018, having been one of three partners at SONGS Music Publishing. Marshall is at the forefront of a new generation of music executives at the intersections of creative and commercial, entertainment and technology. She is known for a songwriter-first mentality and her wide-ranging expertise that drives innovative and dynamic approaches to the development and promotion of talent at all stages of a career.

Marshall oversees Chappell’s global operations, which includes growing and strengthening the full spectrum of support services for its legendary roster of songwriters and rich catalog of songs. One of her first initiatives at the publisher was the introduction of a new Creative Services department focused on creating and finding new opportunities to serve songwriters.

Prior to joining Warner/Chappell, Marshall was Partner at SONGS Music Publishing. As its first West Coast team member, Marshall established the company’s creative licensing team that was responsible for placing compositions by SONGS’ writers in film, commercials, video games and visual media. During her more than 12 years with the company, she helped to build it into one of the leading independent publishers in the U.S., which was home to The Weeknd, Lorde, DJ Mustard and Diplo, among others and known for its commitment to super-serving songwriters. Marshall was instrumental in the success and eventual sale of the company to Kobalt Capital in 2017.

Prior to SONGS, Carianne held positions at Elektra Records, Universal Music Publishing and DreamWorks Music Publishing. She began her career at a Los Angeles-based production company where she handled live music production and promotion.

As one of the leading voices in the music publishing industry, Marshall was named one of Billboard's Women in Music: The Most Powerful Executives in the Industry in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Other honors include her inclusion in Variety’s 2017 Women’s Impact Report. She serves on the Board of Directors for MusicCares.
