ASCAP's 4th Annual Women Behind the Music Series to Honor Top Industry Females

Events in New York, Los Angeles & Atlanta to Celebrate Contributions of Women in Music Industry

New York, NY, October 15, 2010: The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) kicks off its 4th annual ASCAP Presents… Women Behind the Music tomorrow in New York at swanky Meatpacking District club Tenjune. The series is designed to encourage and recognize women in the music community, highlighting not only women songwriters and artists, but women working in all facets of the business, including managers, attorneys, label executives and music publishers. Following the event in New York, the series will then head to Los Angeles on October 17th and Atlanta on October 18th.

Each of the three events will feature three or four honorees and a moderator. The honorees will be presented with a special memento in recognition of their contributions to music. Previous honorees include ASCAP songwriters Janelle Monáe, Siedah Garrett, Monica, Kelly Rowland, Melanie Fiona, Sheila E., Kandi Burruss, Goapele and R&B girl group Electrik Red.

"We created the Women Behind the Music series to recognize the immense contributions that women make across all areas of the music business," said ASCAP Vice President of Membership, Rhythm & Soul Nicole George.
