On September 20, 2012, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation held the 28th Jazz Issues Forum and Concert, as part of the 42nd Annual Legislative Conference at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, in Washington, DC.  This year’s performance began with a discussion by the evening’s performing artists, Terri Lyne Carrington, Gerald Clayton, Jr. and Lizz Wright, that was hosted by independent arts producer and writer Willard Jenkins. Immediately following, alto saxophonist Antonio Hart led a quartet that featured NEA Jazz Master Jimmy Heath who, later that night, was presented with the 2012 CBCF ALC Jazz Legacy Award. The show concluded with a final set from Terri Lyne Carrington’s Mosaic Project which showcased ASCAP members Gerald Clayton, Jr., Tia Fuller and Lizz Wright, along with James Genus.
