Grammy award-winning ASCAP songwriters Hillary Lindsey and Brett James will take the stage with the Nashville Symphony for the unique symphonic pop event Music City Hit-Makers, part of the Music City Independence Day celebration “Let Freedom Sing!” at Riverfront Park in Nashville.

Created in 2010 by Charles Dixon, Music City Hit-Makers is a touring symphonic pop concert that pairs Nashville’s most revered songwriters with the artistry of the symphony orchestra - the curtain gets pulled back on Music City to reveal the stories behind the songs written for today’s biggest stars. Future Music City Hit-Makers events will also feature Grammy-winning ASCAP songwriter Gordie Sampson and will include performances with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and more.

Singer-songwriters Lindsey and James are two of the most successful Grammy award-winning songwriters of the past decade and are among the elite of Nashville's storied songwriting tradition. The spectacular vocal duo, backed by the gorgeous sounds of the Nashville Symphony and orchestral scores by arranger Charles Judge (Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts) will perform eight Billboard Country #1 singles that they have collectively written, recorded by artists such as Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Martina McBride and Rodney Atkins.

In 2011, Lindsey received two Golden Globe nominations for Best Original Song - Motion Picture for “There’s A Place For Us,” from Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and “Coming Home,” from Country Strong, which also earned Lindsey an Oscar nomination at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. Lindsey has co-written five #1 songs recorded by Carrie Underwood, “Jesus Take The Wheel,” “Wasted,” “Last Name,” “So Small,” and “Just a Dream,” and she has writing credit on eight of the fourteen tracks on Underwood’s latest release Blown Away.

James, a two time ASCAP Country Songwriter of the Year, has scored thirteen Billboard #1 Country songs over the past decade and has achieved cross-genre success with the recent smash hits “Mr. Know It All” (Kelly Clarkson) and “Life After You” (Daughtry). James has penned five chart-toppers recorded by Kenny Chesney, including the #1 songs “When The Sun Goes Down,” “Out Last Night,” and “Reality,” and the top ten records “You Save Me” and “Keg In The Closet,” which peaked at #3 and #6 respectively.

The set list to be performed during the Nashville riverfront 4th of July event includes the following #1 hit Country music songs: “It’s America” (recorded by Rodney Atkins; written by James and Angelo Petraglia), “Last Name” (recorded by Carrie Underwood; written by Lindsey, Carrie Underwood and Luke Laird), “American Honey,” (recorded by Lady Antebellum; written by Lindsey, Cary Barlowe and Shane Stevens), “Brass Bed (Stay With Me)” (recorded by Josh Gracin; written by Brett James, Jedd Hughes and Terry McBride), “When The Sun Goes Down” (recorded by Kenny Chesney; written by James), “Jesus Take The Wheel” (recorded by Carrie Underwood; written by Lindsey, James and Sampson), “So Small” (recorded by Carrie Underwood; written by Lindsey, Carrie Underwood and Luke Laird), “Reality” (recorded by Kenny Chesney; written by James and Kenny Chesney), and “Blessed” (recorded by Martina McBride; written by Lindsey, James and Troy Verges).
