ASCAP Mourns Sudden Death of Songwriter Pimp C

ASCAP Songwriter Chad "Pimp C" Butler died on December 4th in his Los Angeles hotel room of yet unknown causes. The Houston native was half of the legendary rap duo UGK, and along with UGK partner Bernard "Bun B" Freeman, owned Trill Entertainment. Butler made prominent guest appearances on Jay-Z's hit single "Big Pimpin'" and Three 6 Mafia's "Sippin' On Some Sizzurp."

This summer, UGK's newest record, UGK (Underground Kingz) reached #1 on the Billboard Charts and received two BET Hip Hop Awards, an Ozone Living Legend Award, and UGK's first Grammy Nomination for the single "Int'l Players (I Choose You)."
