ASCAP PRESENTS... AT 2006 SXSW MUSIC FESTIVAL

Featuring Showcases, Panels, Boat Rides, Parties, and more!

New York, NY, February 24, 2006: ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers) is pleased to announce its line-up of showcases and events at this year's South By Southwest Music Conference & Festival, held March 15-19, 2006, in Austin, TX. In addition to staging its popular rock and acoustic "ASCAP Presents…" showcases, ASCAP will also co-present the Filter Magazine Parties, participate in music panel discussions, host its annual boat rides, present the SXSW Showcasing Artist Listening Kiosk, as well as sponsor other exciting showcases and parties to highlight the best and brightest in rock music. The details are:

ASCAP PRESENTS… SHOWCASES
On Wednesday March 15, the perennial favorite ASCAP Presents… Rock showcase will take place at The Dirty Dog Bar (505 E. Sixth Street) featuring performances by Aberdeen City (8:30 pm), Love of Diagrams (9:15 pm), Pilotdrift (10:00 pm), Office (10:45 pm), The Rinse (11:30 pm), Colored Shadows (12:15 am), and The Ark (1:00 am). Doors open at 8:00 pm. Open to SXSW badgeholders only.

On Saturday, March 18, the ASCAP Presents… Acoustic showcase will take place at The Whiskey Bar (303 W 5th St.) featuring performances by Tall Hands (8:00 pm), The Effects (9:00 pm), Eric Hutchinson (9:45 pm), Piers Faccini (10:30 pm), Chris & Thomas (11:15 pm), The Chapin Sisters (12:00 am), and Paolo Nutini (12:45 am). Doors open at 7:00 pm. Open to SXSW badgeholders only.

FILTER MAGAZINE PARTIES
From Thursday - Saturday, March 16-18, Filter Magazine's Revenge of Cedar Street Parties, co-presented by ASCAP, will take place at Cedar Street Courtyard (208 West 4th St.) featuring performances by Amusement Parks on Fire, Built To Spill, Carina Round, The Cribs, Duels, The Duke Spirit, Earlimart, Eastern Conference Champions, The Elected, Elefant, The Grates, Illinois, Magnet, Metric, Nine Black Alps, The Noisettes, Silversun Pickups, The Subways, Vega 4, plus a secret surprise headliner! Open to SXSW badgeholders only.

MUSIC PANELS
On Thursday, March 16, ASCAP executives will be participating in the music panels at the Austin Convention Center. At 1:15 pm, check out the A&R: Research and Strategy panel (Room 12AB) featuring Jennifer Knoepfle, ASCAP Director of Membership Pop/Rock. Later that day, at 4:15 pm, Todd Brabec, ASCAP Executive Vice President/Director of Membership) and Jeff Brabec, Vice President Business Affairs at Chrysalis Music Group, co-authors of the award-winning book Music, Money and Success: The Insider's Guide to Making Money in the Music Industry, will present the Songwriting and Music Publishing is a Business panel (Room 12AB). Open to SXSW badgeholders only.

ASCAP HOSPITALITY BOAT RIDES
On Thursday, March 16, escape the hustle and bustle of Sixth Street and hop aboard the ASCAP Hospitality Boat Rides. Co-sponsored by AFTRA, Vitamin Water, IMRO and SOCAN, the boat departs from the Four Seasons Dock at 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm, 2:30 pm, 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm. Open to all SXSW attendees.

SXSW SHOWCASING ARTIST LISTENING KIOSK
From Thursday - Saturday, March 16-18, ASCAP will present the SXSW Showcasing Artist Listening Kiosk at the Music Trade Show & Exhibition located at the Austin Convention Center. The listening kiosk provides all conference registrants the opportunity to sit down and privately listen to the demos of each 2006 SXSW performing artist. Artist press kits are also available. For quicker reviews, use the iPod kiosks, which are preloaded with a single track from the SXSW Class of 2006. (Booth E18, F18, G18). Open to SXSW badgeholders only.

MORE SHOWCASES AND PARTIES
On Friday, March 17, check out the Barfly & ASCAP Present... showcase at Exodus (302 East 6th St.) featuring performances by The Cribs, Duels, Hard Fi, and The Heights. Doors open at 8:00 pm. Open to SXSW badgeholders only.

On Saturday, March 18, from 12 - 7 pm, ASCAP will co-sponsor the Yep Roc Records SXSW Day Party at Yard Dog Folk Art Gallery (1510 S. Congress Avenue) featuring performances by American Princes, Billy Bragg, Jake Brennan & The Confidence Men, Chatham County Line, Cities, Marah, Ian Moore, Robert Skoro, and Tres Chicas. Open to SXSW badgeholders only.
