ASCAP Employees Announce Special Concert for Katrina Victims

Below are some additional relief efforts for those affected by Hurricane Katrina. Each of these organizations directs their efforts directly towards helping musicians that could greatly use your donations and help.

New Orleans Musicians Hurricane Relief Fund
This fund is established by Preservation Hall (www.preservationhall.com) to provide musicians with financial support during this tragic time. 100% of money raised through this fund will go directly to New Orleans musicians.

NOAH Creates SHONOF: Safe Harbor for Our New Orleans Friends
NOAH (New Orleans and Houston) has a mission to reach out and support the displaced New Orleans musicians by providing them with housing, venues in which to perform, instrument replacement, etc. The site features a registry of New Orleans musicians that have sought refuge in Houston that are banding together with the help of musicians in Houston and the greater public. New Orleans Musicians Clinic (NOMC)
This is a hands on organization who has the names and addresses of so many great musicians because they have them all coming to their FREE health clinic all these years and now, they are the ones who are tracking down the local musicians and finding them shelter. Jazz Foundation of America
The Jazz Foundation of America will be addressing the longer-term needs of these jazz and blues artists who will have just lost everything.

The Jazz Foundation of America will be raising funds and distributing money for the musicians to get a new apartment or room for rent: by giving a first month's rent, possibly more, for them to start over, a place to live. As well, the Foundation will be attempting to help New Orleans musicians by replacing the thing that matters most and the only way they can ever work again: their instruments.

The Tipitina's Foundation
The Tipitina's Foundation, in the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, is committed to saving the culture of New Orleans. The first step they are taking is to locate all New Orleans artists and their families and then find housing for those who need it. The Foundation is also developing an ever-expanding database of people throughout the country who are ready and willing to give our artists a temporary home or other support.

Meanwhile, they are actively seeking donations to provide New Orleans music community in exile with whatever resources they need to survive, including clothes, gigs, instruments and options for resettlement.

To help aid New Orleans musicians who need housing, please get them in touch with the Tipitina's Foundation. Bill Taylor from the Foundation reports that they have offers of housing all over the country for displaced New Orleans musicians.
