ASCAP MUSIC PLAYS A STARRING ROLE AT THE
2004 SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL MUSIC CAFÉ

New York, NY, January 6, 2004: ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers) is pleased to announce the artist line-up for the daytime programming at the Sundance Music Café during the 2004 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Daytime performances at the Music Café, produced by ASCAP, will be open to festival credential holders from January 16 - 23.
The Music Café, located at Plan B, The Nightclub, 268 Main Street in Park City, continues to be one of the most popular draws at the Festival. It is dedicated to showcasing the exceptional talent of new artists, top names and emerging artists, and is a place where independent filmmakers can meet and interact with film composers and songwriters to encourage collaboration amongst all of these talents.
Over the past five years, the Music Café,
with daytime programming produced by ASCAP, has featured
both legendary and cutting edge artists from across
the musical spectrum such as India.Arie, Deana Carter,
Guy Clark, Rodney Crowell, Peter Gabriel, Patty Griffin,
Emmylou Harris, Jonny Lang, Daniel Lanois, Nickel
Creek,
Old 97's, Damien Rice, Josh Ritter, and Bernie Worrell,
and many others. This year's eight-day Music Café
series will follow that tradition by highlighting some
of ASCAP's most exciting and entertaining members including
The All-American Rejects, Joseph Arthur, Sweet
Pea Atkinson & Was (Not Was) Quintet featuring Don & David
Was, Edie Brickell, Jon Brion, Clem Snide, Shawn Colvin,
John Doe, Ricky Fanté, Goapele,
John Hiatt, Joe Jackson, Jason Mraz, Tim O'Brien, Fernando
Osorio, Teitur, Judy Wexler, and Dan
Wilson.
Daytime performances at the Music Café,
produced by ASCAP, will take place 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM
daily (4:00 PM ‚ 6:45 PM on Friday, January 16). Visit

February 13, 2004 marks the 90th anniversary
of the founding of ASCAP. As the world's largest performing
rights organization, ASCAP has over 170,000 composer,
lyricist and music publisher members representing all
genres of music. ASCAP is committed to protecting the
rights of its members by licensing and collecting royalties
for the public performance of their copyrighted works,
and then distributing these fees to the Society's members
based on performances.
ASCAP’s Board of Directors is made
up solely of writers and publishers, elected by the
membership every two years. |
