Duffy, founder of Meet the Composer, died on December 22nd at the age of 89. Raised in the Bronx, he thrived on jazz, Broadway and orchestral music alike growing up. As a composer, he made important contributions to the Film/TV, Musical Theatre, and Concert genres. The "Meet the Composer" program which he founded has had enormous success connecting composers with audiences and opportunities in the community around them. Duffy was also known as an advocate for Jazz to be respected at the highest level of American music.
