ASCAP Nashville hosted its first Music City Trifecta three day songwriting retreat on August 27th through the 29th at Brett James' Cornman Music on Music Row. Sponsored in part by City National Bank, the retreat served to highlight the unique talents of the ASCAP songwriting community in country, pop and christian music. The inaugural event combined some of the hottest ASCAP songwriters based in Nashville, New York, Los Angeles and across the country, hand-selected by ASCAP membership staff representing the three genres.
The songwriters split off into small, diverse co-writing groups and worked on songs for different artists each day, with this year's participants writing for Beyoncé and Blake Shelton. The goal was to provide an intimate and focused setting for hit songs to be created, and ultimatley recorded and released, as well as to develop long-lasting relationships between the songwriters involved for future collaborations.
Songwriter and producer participants included Greg Becker, Billboard, Chris DeStefano, Ben Glover, Ashley Gorley, Catt Gravitt, JT Harding, Brett James, Mike Krompass, Hillary Lindsey, Shane McAnally, Autumn Rowe, Shane Stevens, Troy Verges and Justin Weaver. Their combined songwriting credits include huge hits recorded by a diverse list of artists such as Britney Spears, Carrie Underwood, Chris Young, Jake Owen, Jason Aldean, Kelly Clarkson, Kenny Chesney, Ke$ha, Lady Antebellum, Mandisa, Taylor Swift, The Backstreet Boys, Uncle Kracker and many more.
