ASCAP Composers Score at the IFMCA Awards

The 2011 awards train kept on chugging for ASCAP composers on February 24th, 2011, when the International Film Music Critics Association (IFMCA) announced the winners of its annual awards. John Powell took top honors for How to Train Your Dragon, which won Film Score of the Year and Best Original Score for an Animated Feature. ASCAP Television and Film Scoring Workshop alumnus Nuno Malo was named Breakout Composer of the Year. Bear McCreary and SACEM composer Bruno Coulais each earned an award, as did the massive archival reissue of the Spartacus score, released to commemorate the film's 50th anniversary and the 100th birthday of its composer, the late Alex North.
