PHILIP GLASS by the New York City Opera to produce a new work exploring the life and career of Walt Disney. It is Glass' 24 th opera and imagines the final months of Disney's life as described by a fictional cartoonist.
MARGARET GRIEBLING-HAIGH'S "Romans des Rois," a three-movement piece commissioned by Cleveland Orchestra principal hornist Richard King.
EDIE HILL by Arc Duo and Two Sides Sounding to compose works for flute, guitar, soprano and piano. Both commissions were sponsored in part by The Schubert Club where Hill is composer-in-residence.
RAIMUNDO PENAFORTE by Empire City Men's Chorus. The work, "Hallelujah," was performed in NYC on December 5, 2008.
GREGORY PRECHEL by the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra in Ohio to compose a twenty-five work for their 2008-9 classical season.
