ASCAP writer Frank Fitzpatrick pens the title song for Soul Men

Soul Men (Weinstein Films) features Samuel L. Jackson and the late Bernie Mac as former members of the fictitious soul group The Real Deal from the Memphis Stax Records era who travel cross country to perform at a tribute concert in honor of their famous former band leader, Marcus Hooks (John Legend). The film also stars the late great Isaac Hayes as himself.

Frank Fitzpatrick wrote the title track "Soul Music" for the film and brought in six-time Grammy nominee Anthony Hamilton to perform the song for the end title and single for the soundtrack album on Concord/Stax Records. Fitzpatrick also produced a version for the opening titles featuring members of his old band, Hidden Faces. The soundtrack album is on Concord/Stax Records with singles and remixes available on iTunes.

The film premiered at the Apollo with a special tribute to Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes, and opened nationwide on November 7th.

The Weinstein Company will be submitting "Soul Music" for Oscar Consideration.
