What was your inspiration for your first mixtape, "4180: The Prescription?"
Pill: I wanted to show my ability to adapt. I wanted to show people that we can rap down here [Atlanta]. I do have different capabilities, when it comes to music and subject matter. I feel like I'm a star in my own right. I got tired of not being able to express myself, creatively.
What are you working on, currently?
Pill: I just wrapped up working on my next mixtape, "4075: The Refill" and I'm working on my album, "The Medicine." The mixtape comes out, next month, and the album drops mid-2010.
I also did a commercial for "Def Jam 'Rap Star,'" a new video game coming out.
Where are you from, originally?
Pill: Atlanta, born and raised. I'm from all the messed up parts: 4th Ward...Englewood Projects...Bankhead. I've moved around, since I was seven; never really had a home.
Who is your musical mentor and why?
Pill: I really don't have a mentor, musically. I have guys that I look up to; Andre 3000, Jay-Z, Scarface, Bun B, Raekwon, Ghostface. I was really inspired by Pac and Biggie.
What was your first introduction into the music industry?
Pill: Being on a mixtape in '03, I think, with Killer Mike. It was a good thing. It was exposure. It was a sweet feeling. I didn't see no money for it, but you love the exposure and you love that people recognize your musical abilities.
