The three-day annual meeting of the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Conference & Awards was held at the Renaissance Downtown in Atlanta, GA on November 28-30, 2007. ASCAP's Rhythm & Soul Team sponsored a standing room only panel named ASCAP Presents... The Ears Behind the Music, which featured Big Jon Platt, President of EMI Music Publishing – West Coast, being interviewed by ASCAP's Songwriter of the Year, Johnta Austin. The interview was conducted with concern about how music publishers provide for songwriters of music today and tomorrow.
During the attendance of ASCAP's Rhythm & Soul Team at the conference, ASCAP's Alonzo Robinson participated on the panel, Hip-Hop Post Imus: A Wrap or a Rebirth?, discussing Hip-Hop's presence in the music industry.
